Woody Nook has just 17 acres
of non-irrigated, hand picked vines, nestled in
the Margaret River region of Western Australia,
a three hour drive south of Perth, the state capital
and five miles from the Indian Ocean. The soil is
gravelly, sandy loam. Winters are mild with moderate
rainfall; summers are long, warm and sunny, ideal
conditions for promoting quality grape production.
This family-owned and run boutique winery has been
making premium award-winning wines for more than
twenty years.
This Chardonnay has delicate,
appealing characteristics of pear, lime and grapefruit,
with a rounded, lingering finish. Although just half
of this wine was fermented in barrels for a short
time, this exposure to oak is pleasantly detectable
now and will add complexity over time.

Killdog
Creek Cab Merlot 2004 (RV)
This 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot blend is
packed with ripe, dark cherry fruit, exhibiting violets
and toasty oak on the nose. It has an appealing savoury
flair with liquorice and blackcurrant flavours on
the palate.
Merlot
2003 (RV)
This wine shows excellent colour
and bouquet and has a depth of fruit with wood overtones.
The palate has good structure and complexity, yet
is still very soft with good acid balance. A very
versatile wine.
Dark red almost purple in color, it
shows bright, delineated aromas of raspberry, cherry
and cranberry interwoven with a spicy clove and five-spice
component. Dense and supple, this wine assimilated
the 50% new French oak effortlessly. It is surprisingly
elegant with great purity and freshness.
Shiraz
2003 (RV)
A firmly structured wine exhibiting
a tinge of violets and spicy white pepper characteristics
on the nose, which carry over to the palate, enhanced
by fresh dark berry fruits and sweet vanillin oak.
Enjoy now or be rewarded by cellaring for 6-8 years.
