Sweet Dreams!

The vineyards of the STÖLZERHOF winery are located around the village of Illmitz, in the heart of the national-park Neusiedler See, near Vienna right between lake “Neusiedlersee” and the border with Hungary.

The winemaker and owner of the winery, Stefan Tschida, is known as one of the most famous producers of Austrian sweet wines. His wines of qualities such as Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and also Eiswein are known as the liquid gold of Austria

Over the past 20 years he has won many awards such as the Grand prix d´excellence in Paris, the Gewürztraminer Symposium in Italy, the Austrian Salonsieger and two times the Wine World Champion Award for Dessert wines.

The wines are a heavenly match for lovers of good food. Take a chance and try the perfect match of these fine wines with blue cheese, goose liver or a nice apple pie – you will understand why the wines of the STÖLZERHOF winery are known as “Sweet Dreams”!

Grüner Veltliner Qualitätswein 2005 (White) (RV)

Grüner Veltliner is the signature variety of Austria. This Grüner Veltliner has a very typical floral, peppery bouquet. On the palate it is fresh and spice, quite complex in terms of fruity aromas and very refreshing.
As Jancis Robinson put´s it “Grüner Veltliner can put Austria in everybody’s mind!”

Messwein Kabinett 2005 (White) (RV)

This “Welschriesling Messwein” has been selected once again to be the wine to be sacrificed in the holy mess in the Church of Illmitz – a small town which is known for its wines. The Messwein is a very refreshing, stylish and elegant white wine. Very stylish, herbal and fruity aromas in the bouquet – on the palate it is light and crisp, with a hint of green apples.

Nikolaus Eiswein 2003 (375ml) (Dessert) (RV)

This “liquid gold” In a cold night on December 6th, the day Austrians celebrate Saint Nicholaus, at freezing minus 8 degrees, grapes of Grüner Veltliner had been picked for this Eiswein. This Eiswein – is rich in aromas, spices and of course – sweetness – so it comes as an ideal match with any fruit-based desserts.

Gatto Nero Qualitätswein 2003 (Red) (RV)

A blend of the Austrian variety, Zweigelt and the international famous Cabernet sauvignon. According to European wine-mythology, the Gatto Nero (Italian for “black cat”) protects the best cask of the vintners wine – in case of the Gatto Nero from the Stölzerhof winery it must have been many casks to protect. Gatto Nero is the blend of the best barriques of the winery – it is a smooth match of cherries and black berries – rich in taste but still smooth as silk.

Ambrosia Trockenbeerenauselese 2004 (375ml) (Dessert) (RV)

Grapes for Ambrosia 2004 has been picked from the same vineyard, which has produced already twice the grapes for a wine which later had been awarded Austrian Wine Champion also known as “Salon Sieger”. Ambrosia, which is the most renowned sweet wine of the Stölzerhof winery is an ideal match for sin-full desserts, foie gras or aged and rich cheeses.
Excellent ageing qualities!
