Ribera del Duero, Spain
The prestigious, award-winning Bodegas Valduero, located in Gumiel de Mercado, was established in 1984 in Ribera del Duero DO region. The Garcia family (who own and operate the winery) were among the first to recognize the incredible potential that the Ribera del Duero soils held and started acquiring vineyards and planting vines before the region became internationally recognized. 200 hectares of vineyards allows them to control the quality of the base material and ensure that superior fruit is used for their superior wines.

Like Rioja, Ribera del Duero’s magic wines are made from the Tempranillo grape, which is called Tinto Fino in this part of Spain. Valduero wines represent an extraordinary value because they own their vineyards and do not have to source their fruit on the ever-rising open market.

	Sobresaliente 9° Blanco (White) 2008 (RV) Varietal: Albillo. Straw yellow colour with some green hues; fresh and easy to drink. Light, crisp and refreshing with a combination of ripe citrus fruits and tropical flavours. Full of finesse. Ideal as an aperitif or served with fish or shellfish.
	Crianza 2007 (RV) Varietal: 100% Tinto Fino. A ruby coloured wine with a big nose of berries, liquorice and toasted oak. Elegant on the palate, it has a velvety texture, intense flavours and excellent balance. Potential to age beautifully. Perfect when served with grilled meat, roast beef or lamb and hard cheeses. 90 points: Robert Parker 89 points : Wine Advocate (For 2006 vintage)
	Reserva 2005 Varietal: 100% Tinto Fino. The 2005 Reserva reveals a complex bouquet of cedar, tobacco, spice box, incense and blackberry liqueur. Suave on the palate, it has loads of succulent fruit, impeccable balance, tons of spice and several years of cellaring potential. 	Gran Reserva 1999 Varietal: 100% Tinto Fino. Purple-coloured, it reveals an exceptional aromatic array of pain grille, crushed stone, Asian spices, earth, lavender, blueberry, and blackberry. Opulent, layered, impeccably balanced and complete. 94 points : Robert Parker
	Gran Reserva 2001 Varietal: 100% Tinto Fino. Impressive, deep dark red colour.
